India's T20 World Cup Triumph 2024

"Dhoni finishes off in style, It's India who win the World Cup." These lines said by Ravi Shastri had gone old with respect to India's World Cup Trophy drought. The most dominating team in bilateral series could not win an ICC Trophy and this was the biggest disappointment for ICT fans. After losing the 2023 world cup final, the first thought which came into my mind was that most probably 2024 t20 wc would be the last world cup Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play together. So, this was their only chance for a world cup glory and they did not gave us a feeling of dismay, sadness and disappointment but an year full of cherishing memories, joy and happiness

India won the T20 World Cup 2024 happening in the USA and West Indies. They became the only team to win a world cup staying unbeaten. Their journey to the final was a happening one from the high pressure game against or the game against Australia. Especially, the game against Pakistan was a sheer representation of the evolution of Indian team's pace battery in the last decade. From 98 percentage of winning the match with Pakistan our pace battery broke their dreams of winning a game against India as they took the game from them in the last 10 overs. From the first game to the last one, India never looked a under confident or worn out team as they dominated everybody they faced badly. One such win was against Australia in the Super Eight which was personal for every Indian citizen ( If you know what I am talking about). Rohit's knock in that game was the indication of the frustration he had in himself after every knockout loss in every world cup in the last 5-6 years with more respect to 19th November. Then comes the Semifinal against England and that transition from 10 wicket win to 10 wickets out was outstanding. The game was one sided as soon as England completed their powerplay during the batting stint. Every cricket in the team was hungry of that silverware. So, they never looked back to the losses they had been facing but focused on their race to the unmatched legacy of winning a World Cup Trophy. The final was the best which could happen in an ICC tournament. It was not a cricket match a display of every emotion one can imagine in a game of cricket. India set a target of 177 and defend for India seemed easy until Klaseen smashed 24 runs in the 15th over and his team needed just 30 of 30 balls. India's pace attack pulled off a blinder from that stage by first Bumrah giving an economical over and then Hardik took the wicket of Klaseen to shift the momentum of the game on his side. The hidden hero was Arshdeep Singh who also pulled of two brilliant overs at the right - one in the middle and the other in the death. Last over consisted of South Africa requiring 16 runs and Hardik had to defend them. The first ball was a full toss indicating the pressure Hardik had with respect to his last 6 months. Miller swung his bat so hard but could not get the middle and it was the sticker that touched his bat but it was enough to go to the boundary but not above it as Suryakumar Yadav caught the ball and fancied India's chances to get the silverware.

Virat Kohli was in tears and Rohit Sharma lied down to celebrate their undermining hard work in the last decade and the last time in this format. The pair decided to announce their retirement from T20I's together after getting their hands on the silverware. Looking back to their world cup triumph I see a roller coaster ride filled with emotions of joy, happiness and satisfaction. The trophy weighing 12kg which they lifted had made 1.3 billion people happy back home which they expressed through lighting firecrackers and doing individual parades. India became the first cricket team to win a T20I world cup unbeaten displaying their want to get hands on the trophy badly and they gave everything for it. We also gave everything for it and got the result back paying the debt of our worshipping to the team from the last 17 freaking years.

Ravi Shastri's lines were replaced by the ones - Long on, Long On and what a catch, Suryakumar takes it and Miller's gone !!!!!!!!

Thank you RCB !!!!!

Fumes of excitement started to pour in for RCB fans as soon as they heard of the first match in the Tata IPL 2024. It was between two giants RCB and CSK at Chepauk. RCB lost the game but what came next for the franchise had a bigger reason to be disappointed. They lost 6 games out of their next 7.  Everybody was dejected and disappointed even the players in the team and now they just went out to enjoy their game and cherish the remaining moments left with them in the tournament but who knew that this 1% chance of going to the playoffs became 100%. They won their next 6 games in a row keeping the net run rate and after winning a tremendous match against CSK, they marched into the playoffs. What followed next is a forgettable moment just like all the playoff matches RCB has played. But I am writing this to thank RCB for every it has given us to cherish in this IPL by making the best comeback every and Virat Kohli winning the Orange Cap. These are just some of them but everything they have given us this IPL. I am a RCB fan and they given me tears of sadness every year but there is something in this team that drives me to support them and follow them every year. I thank RCB for giving me those memories. This team has given its fans everything but just not an IPL TROPHY !!!!!!!

The Return of the King aka Virat Kohli

Once upon a time, there lived a king who ruled over three kingdoms. The name of the three kingdoms were – ODI, T20I and TEST. There were also other people who were like him but he always dominated them. The king had won 70 wars and was very close to his 71st. After winning 70 wars, he went on a voyage. The motive of this voyage was to experiment new things and new modern ways of winning wars. He learnt them and practised them also but was not successful. When he came back from his voyage, he executed the new ways and techniques of war but could not dominate the wars. After 1,021 days got past and he could not dominate the wars, he also did not win them and he was not so confident now and, in that period, the other people who were their started to win wars and gained faith of people and The King’s following was low. Then he took a break and spent some time with his family and friends and after 1 month he returned with a bang!!!! He won his 71st war and he was back, the KING was back. This story is just a representation of Virat Kohli aka the King Kohli’s journey.

He smashed his 71st century against Afghanistan in one of India’s outings in the Asia Cup on 8th September, 2022. He made 122* of 61 balls and leading India to victory in that match.

Reviewing Black Widow

I have always written about cricket and always mentioned that I am die – hard cricket fan but I have not mentioned that I am also a die – hard marvel fan. In September, Black Widow was released and I thought let’s review the movie.

I would say that it was a very nice ending to Natasha Romanoff’s character but there were some disappointments also. Like, in the starting it was shown that Dreykov the main villain of the movie and daughter was dead in a bomb blast which was planted by Black Widow but in the end, we see that her daughter is alive and is the taskmaster. The biggest disappointment for me was that Taskmaster was dead in the end of the movie means he was not dead but now he won’t come back. Losing a very excellent villain like Taskmaster is bad. I was excited for this movie just because of Taskmaster and when I saw the movie in that Taskmaster was involved in just three major scenes. There was just one fight of Taskmaster vs Black Widow and that too a short one. So, I just wanted to say that Taskmaster, an excellent villain with amazing superpowers, which we thought was villain in the movie was just involved in three scenes and he cannot come back also. So, a nice movie and a nice ending to Natasha Romanoff’s character and in this movie Black Widow’s sister was also seen and it was a nice ending to the Natasha Romanoff’s character and it was a one-time watch movie and a good movie.

Virat Kohli leaving captaincy ?

Virat Kohli is the captain of the Indian cricket team of all three  formats for 4 years. After Ajinkya Rahane led India to their 2nd victory in Australia netizens started to say that Ajinkya Rahane should become India’s all - time captain of tests and after the England test series rumors spread that Virat Kohli may leave the captaincy but after one day only a BCCI person confirmed that Virat Kohli is not leaving the captaincy and it will be his own decision of leaving the captaincy. But after some weeks Virat Kohli on his own confirmed that he will be leaving the T20I captaincy after the T20 World Cup. He said that by leaving the T20I captaincy his workload would be less. After some days, just after the first match of IPL he also confirmed that after this year’s IPL he will quit the captaincy of RCB. Most likely, Rohit Sharma will take over the captaincy of T20I’s from Virat Kohli. He may want to focus more on his batting he has not crossed the three – figure mark for almost 2 years. BCCI said that the contenders for the vice – captain for the T20I vice – captaincy are KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant.

India vs England 2nd test 2021: Day 5

Day 5, England took the new ball just at the start of the day. Rishabh Pant showed some counter attack but his counter attack couldn’t stay longer as Joe Root repeated the trick which he did before and brought Mark Wood with the new ball and he took the wicket of Rishabh Pant. He tried to cut the ball but he was late and the ball touched his bat and it was an easy catch for Jos Buttler. Mark Wood took the wicket of Rishabh Pant. Then after some balls Ollie Robinson bowled a slower delivery and Ishant Sharma was LBW. India made a tactical review but the decision remained the same. Then the Bumrah – Shami show started as they did an unbeaten 89 – run partnership to make India’s led to 271 and target for England to 272. All were saying that a 200 + lead is perfect but India did more than expected. England were in immense pressure as there was rain of runs especially by the Indian tail enders. Everybody could see their pressure as England lost their first wicket only in the first over and second wicket in the second over. Rory Burns got out in the first over as it was a leading edge and an easy catch for Siraj. Dom Sibley’s poor form continued as it was a beautiful delivery from Mohammed Shami and he edged the ball and went to Rishabh Pant. Then after some overs Hasib Hameed who was hanging out for a while got LBW. Ishant Sharma bowled a beautiful delivery which came backed in. It was the last ball before lunch and Bairstow, the new man in, also got out LBW. India just reviewed the decision in the last second and the decision was over tuned to India’s favour and Bairstow got out to Ishant Sharma. After lunch, Joe Root, the most dangerous man, also got out. Jasprit Bumrah bowled a very good ball and the ball touching Root’s edge went to the slip cordon and it was an easy one for Virat Kohli. Then Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali showed some hope to the English fans for a draw as they played 16 overs. Their partnership could not stay longer as Siraj bowled an out – swinging delivery which touched Moeen Ali’s bat and it went to Virat Kohli. Sam Curran on a king pair went for a Golden duck as he also got out to Siraj. He edged the ball and it went to Rishabh Pant. Ollie Robinson also played 18 deliveries but got out to a slower ball from Jasprit Bumrah. India reviewed the decision and the review went in India’s favour as Robinson got out LBW. In the next over only Buttler also edged one to Rishabh Pant on the ball of Mohammed Siraj. India’s chances of winning went to 100% as after one ball Siraj took the wicket of James Anderson. It was an exceptional and thrilling win for Team India at Lord’s. Kl Rahul was awarded the Man of the Match award for his excellent century.

India vs England 2nd test 2021 : Day 3 and Day 4

Day 3, Joe Root completed his fifty as he was at 48 before the second day’s play. Then Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow did a very good partnership as Jonny Bairstow also completed his fifty. Joe Root was eyeing to complete his century but then Siraj took the wicket of Jonny Bairstow. He was trying to pull but the ball touched the outside edge and it was an easy catch for Virat Kohli at slips. They both stitched a partnership of 110 runs. After some overs, Joe Root completed his hundred, it was his second in the series. Jos Buttler and Joe Root were also playing well. As the day moved forward the pitch started to ease out because of the weather as sun was above the head the whole day. Everybody was coming to bat did a partnership of 30 – 40 runs as the pitch was easing out. Jos Buttler and Joe Root also did that before a beauty from Ishant Sharma clean bowled Jos Buttler. It was in – swinging delivery and there was so much gap between the bat and pad and the bowl hit the stumps. Then only in the next ball Ishant Sharma also took the wicket of Sam Curran for a Golden duck. The ball touched his outside edge and went straight to the slip cordon. Moeen Ali who also stitched a 30 – 40 run partnerships. In between, Joe Root also completed his 150 and was eyeing towards his double century. After 5 – 7 overs Moeen Ali nicked one ball to slips and he got out. He got out on 27. In the next ball Sam Curran also got out he also nicked one ball to slips. Sam Curran got a golden duck and made a king pair. Then Mohammed Siraj also got Ollie Robinson. He was LBW. Joe Root was eyeing his double century but wickets were falling on the other end as Mark Wood also got run – out. He sacrificed his wicket for Joe Root. After that Jasprit Bumrah bowled a 10 – ball over. He just bowled all bouncers and he bowled some no balls so it got a 10 ball over. In the next over, Shami bowled Anderson and Joe Root couldn’t complete his double century. England got out on 391 and they took a lead of 27 runs.

Day 4, India started their batting on Day 4 as the third day got over when England got all out. India got a start which they didn’t want as only in the sixth KL Rahul got out only in the sixth over. A surprise for everybody as Mark Wood came to bowl in the sixth over. Kl Rahul tried to defence on backfoot but the ball touched his outside edge and went straight to Jos Buttler. Then only in the 12th over Rohit Sharma played the pull shot and it could not cross the boundary and Moeen Ali catch the ball. India was 27 for 2 in just 12 overs. India now could start making their lead. Virat Kohli showed some momentum but his innings couldn’t last longer as he touched an outside – off ball of Sam Curran and the ball touching his outside edge went to Jos Buttler. Now both out – of – form batsman was batting, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara. They both did a 100 – run partnership which saved India from the collapse. Rahane completed his fifty but Pujara at 45 got out to an unexpected bouncer of Mark Wood. It was a bouncer which touched his edge and went to the gully fielder. Rishabh Pant came in to bat. Rahane thereby was making runs but he edged one ball of Moeen Ali and Jos Buttler catch the ball. We all were expecting a heal to the damage which India had but Jadeja also got bowled by Moeen Ali. Due to bad light play was stopped and it was stumps. India were 182 for 6 and a lead of 154 runs.

India vs England 2nd Test 2021 : Day 1 and Day 2

I have mentioned that India will tour England in August this year. As the first test was a draw, the second test at Lord’s just showed the beauty of Test Cricket. England won the toss and elected to bowl first. Seeing the weather conditions, India got what they wanted because there was no chance of rain and it was expected that there would be sunlight after one or two sessions and after one or two days the pitch would be a good one for spinners.

Before the play there was 15 – 20 minutes of rain and after the rain stopped play got started. Indian openers did a 100 – run partnership which was the first by Indian openers at Lord’s after 1952. Rohit Sharma at 83 got out to and absolute beauty from James Anderson. In that session only India lost out of form Cheteshwar Pujara with an out swinging ball of Jimmy Anderson. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli played the rest of the session and Rahul completed his fifty. After tea, KL Rahul started playing fast and his target was to complete his hundred. He achieved his target and scored a magnificent hundred. Virat Kohli was also playing well on the other end but nicked one on slips of the ball of Ollie Robinson. At the end of the day, India was 276 at the loss of 3 wickets.

Day 2, India lost KL Rahul in just the second ball of the day. He tried to play a cover drive but was caught at covers of the ball of Ollie Robinson. In the next over, Ajinkya Rahane also nicked one to the slips of the ball of Jimmy Anderson. It was Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja who stabled the innings after that but their partnership couldn’t stay longer as Mark Wood took the wicket of Rishabh Pant. He generated his extra pace and Pant tried to cut it but was late and the ball touching his outside edge went straight to Jos Buttler. Then Ravindra Jadeja and the long tail of India got out in the next 33 runs. India was all out on 364. India’s highest run scorer was KL Rahul with his brilliant 129. England openers were steady at the crease before Siraj took two wickets in two consecutive balls. First it was Dom Sibley and then it was the debutant Hasib Hameed. Sibley tried to play the flick shot but played it to the short leg fielder. Hasib Hamid bowled and got a golden duck. Joe Root and Rory Burns were playing well. At the end of the day’s play Jasprit Bumrah took the wicket of Rory Burns at 48. He edged the ball and it went straight to Rishabh Pant.

After 2016, the Olympics was set to be held in 2020 but due to Covid it was held this year. Our country India qualified for the Olympics in Hockey, Wrestling, Badminton, Table Tennis, Boxing etc. Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu opened India’s medal account by winning a silver medal in women’s 49 kg weightlifting. My Agra Trip - Part 2

I have written a blog on my Agra trip and today also I will mention about that. Agra is my grandmother’s home where I go at least one time in a month. We didn’t have a plan to go to Agra before a week but my Chachu was coming and my father’s grandfather was not fine. We went there on Saturday and came on Sunday; we could have stayed much longer but I had an exam on Monday. We left at 6:30 in the morning and reached there till 10. We went there via the Yamuna Expressway. On the way, I studied for my exam and after reaching there I did a lot of masti. If it was a normal situation, we had gone to the market but due to the lockdown in weekends we couldn’t go but I did a lot of masti without going outside too. We left on Sunday in the afternoon at 3:30 and reached at our home till 6:30.

Covid Impact on Indian Cricket

The Indian Cricket Team, it is a common topic in my blog but I have never mentioned about their players injuries. This thing started from the India vs Australia test series in 2020, Virat Kohli had told that he will not play the test series as he is taking paternity leave so Ajinkya Rahane became the captain and after that many players got injured like Mohammed Shami, Hanuma Vihari etc. After that tour, India got to know about their bench strength as India beat Australia in that test series. As you must be knowing, A first set of players are in England a second set of players are in Sri Lanka. Let us start with the first set of players, In England the first who got injured was Shubman Gill he had shin splints and he was ruled out of the 5 match test series vs England. Then it was Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, Rahane had a swollen hamstring and Kohli had a stiff back. They both are on recovery stage and will play the 5 match test series. During the warm – up game of India Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan also got injured. Avesh Khan dislocated his thumb during the practice match and Washington Sundar aggravated his finger injury. In the second set of players, nobody has been injured but Krunal Pandya was tested positive for Covid. His 8 close contacts have tested negative but in the eight contacts, two of them are Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw. Due to 4 injuries in the Indian team in England Suryakumar and Shaw were choose as the back – ups for them and now it is confirmed that they both will not be available for the first two tests vs England. Thanks to India’s bench strength or else I don’t think that there would be any backups taken for the injuries in England and if there was no such good bench strength team India could not break Australia’s Gabba Fortes.

Who am I ???????

My name is Parakram Singh, son of the founder of this blog you can say that he started this blog and I am continuing it. I’ve started the Harpreetsden.blogspot.com founded by my father after 10 years. In between those 10 years he only wrote one blog on the Rajasthan trip

You all know that from last one and a half years whole world is suffering from Coronavirus. While most of us have suffered due to this virus some have used the situation to their advantage by learning new things and show their creativity. I am one of those people. So in this home jail for two years because of the lockdown I discovered my skill of writing.  During free time at home, I started to write on my laptop and realized I love it too and one day my mother suggested that the things you write why don’t you publish it in a blog. You father made one and you can use that. So, the next day my father gave me access to this blog and I am publishing my write-ups on it. I am a die-hard cricket fan and a Marvel comics fan so you’ll find most of my writeups around these topics only. However, I am open to learn more and as I learn and grow, I will explore different topics as well.

I hope you’ll enjoy the articles I write here. Please do not forget to follow me and you can leave your suggestions in comments section.

World Test Championship: Day 5 and Day 6

World Test Championship Final's Day 4 also got washed out due to rain and obviously the reserve day which is the 6th day was used. So in the start of Day 5, only some time was lost due to rain and after the rain the New Zealand team came to bat. This time the Indian pace bowling attack came up with more improved line and lengths, before on Day 3 they were bowling the balls on good length whereas the Kiwi  pace bowling attack used more fuller balls and lesser good length balls. So, on Day 5 the Indian were bowling very good lines and length. After the first hour Mohammed Shami took the wicket of Ross Taylor with a outstanding catch by Shubman Gill on Extra - Cover. After 1 - 2 overs Ishant Sharma was brought by Virat Kohli as a bowling change and he took the wicket of Henry Nicholls. Mohammed Shami who was bowling with Ishant Sharma took the wicket of BJ Watling playing last test BJ Watling could not do anything as Shami bowl a beautiful ball to dismiss him. Colin De Grandhomme and Kane Williamson played till lunch and the spinners did not get a over till lunch. After Lunch, De Grandhomme came and the first ball after lunch was four of Jasprit Bumrah. They both did a good partnership before Shami took the wicket of Grandhomme. Colin De Grandhomme was LBW. Kyle Jamieson came to bat after that, he also was playing fast and at the other end Williamson was playing his own game and was trying to get to his fifty. After hitting 12 runs in Shami's over Jamieson got out. He was trying to play the pull shut and got out. After that Tim Southee came in to bat, he was also playing fast. Kane Williamson was at 49 and then Ishant Sharma bowled an outside - off stump ball and Williamson edged that ball and the ball went straight to the second slip and Virat Kohli toke a brilliant catch. After that, Neil Wagner came in to bat. Tim Southee was rotating strike from the other end and only some trail was left. Ravichandran Ashwin came to bowl and took the wicket of Neil Wagner. Tim Southee was hitting from the other end, Then Jadeja came to bowl. His first ball was six and the next ball was out. Tim Southee got out and New Zealand had a lead of 32 runs. New Zealand's whole team got out on 249.

Team India had a trail of 32 runs. Tim Southee and Trent Boult started the bowling. They both were bowling very well. They both were also playing good. Especially, Tim Southee was bowling very good. Shubman Gill was playing and he shuffled towards the offside because he was expecting a out - swinger but Southee bowled a scrambled seam delivery and it got into the pads of Shubman Gill and he got out LBW. Cheteshwar Pujara came in to bat. After some overs, Rohit Sharma was playing and he was trying to leave the ball and it also got into his pads and he got LBW. Tim Southee got 2 wickets. Pujara and Virat Kohli played the whole session and India had a lead of 34 and at the end of the day India were 64 - 2. Then the next day, the reserve day, everyone was expecting a draw but India's batting collapse led it a one - sided match. Then on the start of the day, Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson started the bowling attack and after some overs Jamieson took the wicket of Virat Kohli, he got out to Jamieson 2nd time. It was outside - off short ball and Kohli tried to play it on the back - foot and he edged it and it went straight to BJ Watling. After few overs, Pujara also got out to Jamieson. He was trying to leave the ball and edged it and it went straight to the slip cordon. Then Rishabh Pant and Ajinkaye Rahane were trying to stable the innings but Rahane also got out to Trent Boult. He was trying to glance the ball and it went to BJ Watling and he got out. Then Pant and Jadeja played till lunch. Then they also were trying to stable the innings after lunch before Neil Wagner took the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja, he was trying to play that ball on the leg side and it also went to BJ Watling and Jadeja got out. After that all the wickets in a flow. So India got out 170 and they had a lead of 138 runs and they set a target for New Zealand of 139.

Devon Conway and Tom Latham started the batting for the kiwis. They both played till 10 overs and after that Ravichandran Ashwin toke the wicket of Tom Latham. He bowled an angled ball coming into the left hander and Tom Latham tried to hit over the mid - wicket and he was out of his crease and Rishabh Pant did no mistake and toke the ball and hit it on the stumps and Tom Latham got stumped. Then in the very same over there was a LBW chance of Kane Williamson but is was missing the stumps. Then Ashwin also toke the wicket of Devon Conway, LBW. World Test Championship Final: Day 2 and Day 3

So, World Test Championship (WTC) I mentioned about this in my World Test Championship blog. The World Test Championship Final had started on June 19. It was scheduled to started on 18th June but the first day got washed out due to rain. The ICC had announced about the reserve day which is the sixth day which means that if due to rain or bad light 90 overs are not bowled in a day so the reserve day which is the sixth day will take place. The first day got washed out so the play started on 19th June. So Kane Williamson's Kiwis won the toss and elected to bowl first. Virat Kohli's Army batted first. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a very good start by doing a 62 - run partnership. After that Kyle Jamieson took the wicket of Rohit Sharma who was playing very well. Rohit Sharma was caught in the slips by a very good catch of Tim Southee. Then after that over Neil Wagner came to bowl his first over and took the wicket of Shubman Gill. India were 62-2. Then Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara played till lunch. After lunch they both were playing well but Pujara as usual was playing very slow. Then Pujara hit a four of Neil Wagner and after playing 35 balls made his first runs, at the other end Virat Kohli was playing well. Then Trent Boult took the wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara. Pujara got LBW. Then Ajinkaye Rahane and Virat Kohli were playing well and did a 58 - run partnership before tea. Virat Kohli was at 40 and Rahane at 20. Then after tea, They both were playing well but due to bad light the math got delayed for just 5 -10 minutes and after that two times the match got delayed due to bad light. Then the third time full match got delayed and only 67 overs were bowled and after the first day got washed out 98 overs had to be bowled in one day and only 67 overs were bowled. Then the next day the play started half an hour late because there had to be some inspection by the umpires. Then when the play started Virat Kohli who was on 44 Kyle Jamieson took the wicket of him by a brilliant bowl. Virat Kohli got LBW. Then Rishabh Pant who was facing some issues with the swing of Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson did not made a single run till playing 18 balls and this happens only sometimes with Rishabh Pant. Then after hitting a four, after some balls he got of a outside - off stump ball which was meant to leave but he edged and it went straight to the slips and Kyle Jamieson got his third wicket. Ravindra Jadeja came to bat after Rishabh Pant. Ajinkaye Rahane was playing nicely and was rotating strikes and was looking confident. They both were playing well, Jadeja was not attacking and was playing defensive. Ajinkaye Rahane who was at 49 got out to a very good fielding change set up by Neil Wagner. From the start of Day 3 India had lost 3 big wickets Virat Kohli, Ajinkaye Rahane and Rishabh Pant. Ravichandran Ashwin came and was first facing issues with swing but after that he played some beautiful shots and made 22 runs and got out in slips of Tim Southee. Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma played till the lunch. Ishant Sharma got out in the slips of Kyle Jamieson. Jasprit Bumrah came and got out of the first ball LBW, he also got out of Kyle Jamieson and he grabbed a fifer in the inaugural of the World Test Championship. Then Ravindra Jadeja also got out to Tim Southee. India's whole team got out on 217.

Then New Zealand came to bat and its openers gave the Kiwis a firing start as they did a 70 - run partnership and it happened the first time that both the openers of both the teams played more than 20 overs. Then Ravichandran Ashwin broke the partnership by taking the wicket of Tom Latham. After some overs Ishant Sharma came and took the wicket of Devon Conway. The match stopped due to bad light and New Zealand played only 49 overs.
