World Test Championship (WTC) it
is a test championship which was announced by the ICC in 2019. It is a
championship for the top teams in the ICC test rankings and based on the points
and ratings the top two teams in the points table will play the final. After
two years, based on the rating and points India and New Zealand were the top
two teams and have qualified for the final. When the WTC started, India had their
home season means all teams will come to India to play with them and India will
not tour in that year so India started very well by winning all the test series
which they played in India. Then in late 2020 Coronavirus came and also
effected the Cricket. Due to Corona many series which were scheduled got cancelled.
Then when cricket started, India started with their series against Australia. In
Australia, they won the test series and it was a historic win by winning without
Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul etc. In between that
India vs Australia series New Zealand played several series with Pakistan and
West Indies and they won that and before Corona they were playing well and they
qualified for the final. England too were playing well and were in search for
the WTC final. India and England their last chance to qualify for the WTC
final. England’s last chance was the series against India and that too in
India. England knew that they had to win that test series if they had to qualify
for the WTC final. So, they started well with winning the first test. Then their
hopes got vanished when India made a comeback and won the second and third test
and if England won the fourth test they would qualify or if India draws or wins
the fourth test, they will qualify for the WTC final. India won the fourth test
and qualified for the for the WTC final. India and New Zealand will play the
WTC final on 18th June in England, Southampton.
