Covid Impact on Indian Cricket

The Indian Cricket Team, it is a common topic in my blog but I have never mentioned about their players injuries. This thing started from the India vs Australia test series in 2020, Virat Kohli had told that he will not play the test series as he is taking paternity leave so Ajinkya Rahane became the captain and after that many players got injured like Mohammed Shami, Hanuma Vihari etc. After that tour, India got to know about their bench strength as India beat Australia in that test series. As you must be knowing, A first set of players are in England a second set of players are in Sri Lanka. Let us start with the first set of players, In England the first who got injured was Shubman Gill he had shin splints and he was ruled out of the 5 match test series vs England. Then it was Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, Rahane had a swollen hamstring and Kohli had a stiff back. They both are on recovery stage and will play the 5 match test series. During the warm – up game of India Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan also got injured. Avesh Khan dislocated his thumb during the practice match and Washington Sundar aggravated his finger injury. In the second set of players, nobody has been injured but Krunal Pandya was tested positive for Covid. His 8 close contacts have tested negative but in the eight contacts, two of them are Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw. Due to 4 injuries in the Indian team in England Suryakumar and Shaw were choose as the back – ups for them and now it is confirmed that they both will not be available for the first two tests vs England. Thanks to India’s bench strength or else I don’t think that there would be any backups taken for the injuries in England and if there was no such good bench strength team India could not break Australia’s Gabba Fortes.
